BEFORE | AFTER

Splendi was an existing web platform with an outdated interface, fragmented user experience, and limited engagement. The product required a complete redesign and a strategic transition into a mobile application, while retaining a responsive web version, to unlock additional functionality and better align with how users interact with credit information in real life. A full redesign and mobile adaptation were therefore required to reposition the product for growth.

The primary objective was to increase user value and engagement in order to strengthen the platform’s commercial appeal to credit suppliers. As users derive more value from the platform, engagement increases and the ecosystem becomes more attractive to service providers seeking visibility and lead generation.

The design challenge was to create meaningful, repeatable value for users while laying a scalable foundation for future business growth.

The UX approach was grounded in user empathy, accessibility and clarity. Design decisions were informed by deep research, industry insight and personal experience within the credit ecosystem.

The user experience was redesigned to provide users with full access to their credit profiles, clear explanations of credit-related concepts, and a more intuitive dispute process. Particular attention was given to navigation logic, interaction predictability and UX copy to reduce cognitive load.

The interface was rebuilt using Ionic UI components as the foundational design system. Rather than designing components in isolation, Ionic components were used as structured building blocks to establish a clean, scalable design system. This introduced deliberate guardrails for UI decisions, ensuring consistency across web and mobile while accelerating development.

Ionicons were adopted to create cohesive iconography that's aligned with platform conventions and simplifying implementation for engineers.

Using Figma Make, I created functional prototypes that simulated real interactions alongside static screens. These prototypes enabled early validation of complex flows and clearer communication of edge cases.

For the business, this reduced uncertainty before development.
For engineering, it translated design intent into executable logic.
For users, it resulted in a more coherent and predictable experience.

The redesigned foundation supports improved usability, stronger user confidence and a scalable system capable of supporting ongoing feature expansion.

The product remains in its early stages, with additional features planned to further increase value to users. As that value compounds, the platform’s attractiveness to credit suppliers strengthens accordingly.

YOUTUBE : A Passion Project

It's a labour of love that allows me to express my talents met with my curiosities during my spare time. My dedication to producing high-quality content shines through in each upload, making my YouTube trivia channel a go-to destination for anyone with a curious mind. From the initial stages of idea generation to the design of eye-catching graphics and animations, every aspect of video production is crafted with care. I pay particular attention to sound and music, curating audio elements that enhance the viewer's experience. I also create thumbnails that serve as gateways to my content.

My Story

A GLIMPSE OF MY JOURNEY THUS FAR

The Dreamer...

Bayanda Msweli 2014

My late teens and early 20s were at the boom of smartphone apps. Like all 20 something year olds of the time, I had my own app ideas I wanted to try out. So first, I'd design all the wireframes and screenshots on Microsoft Powerpoint. Little did I know, I had become my very own UI/UX designer.

The Junior...

Bayanda Msweli 2016

As I started sharing my designs with people, they were impressed and wanted me to help them with theirs too, my very first clients. From then it evolved into business websites. I slowly began to understand business concepts better, which led me to formalise my part time activities into a fully fledged occupation.

The Intermediate...

Bayanda Msweli 2018

At this point, I had dipped my toes in a variety of tech start ups in industries media, agriculture, retail and regulatory compliance. Coincidently, this era saw massive advancement in computing power of both mobile and PCs. I took the opportunity to upskill in code and design skills to future-proof my abilities.

The Senior...

Bayanda Msweli 2024

Today I'm a UI/UX designer with a strong foundation in crafting intuitive digital experiences, backed by deep business insight that allow me to bring solutions to life from bridging the gap between business needs and the end user. I'm also advancing in no-code development and AI integrations that enable rapid prototyping with efficiency and scalability in mind.
